Pace
Short drives, long evenings. In June it is still light near midnight.
What to pack
Layers. A light jacket for the sea wind, and good shoes for boardwalks and cobbles.
Food
Rye bread, smoked fish, forest berries and mushrooms. Tallinn has a young and serious food scene.
Sauna
Saunas are part of life here. Some are wood-fired, some sit by a lake. Then a swim, for those who want one.
Schengen, ticks and midsummer.
We confirm each of these with you before you travel.
Checked against official sources in October 2026.
Entry
Estonia is in the Schengen area. Visitors from the UK, the US, Australia and many other countries can stay up to 90 days in any 180 without a visa. Fingerprints and a photo are taken at the border on your first visit. A travel authorisation called ETIAS is planned, and the official EU site shows when it begins.
Ticks
Forests and meadows have ticks, and some carry tick-borne encephalitis. Speak to your doctor about the vaccine, and check yourself after walks.
Midsummer
23 and 24 June are national holidays. Towns empty, bonfires are lit, and some places close. We plan around it.
Money
The euro. Cards work almost everywhere, even for small amounts.
Language
Estonian. English is widely spoken, especially in Tallinn.
